KoalaSpeak privacy policy

KoalaSpeak is built so that conversations stay on your phone. This page explains what the app stores, where, and what uses the internet.

Last updated: 2026-10-04 Version 1.0

1. Summary

Listening, understanding and speaking run on your device. KoalaSpeak does not need an account.

2. What is stored on your phone

Profiles (name, age and, if you choose, gender), learning progress, settings and, if memory is on, conversation history and remembered facts. This data is stored in an encrypted database on the device.

3. Memory

“Remember me between conversations” is off by default. When it is off, each conversation starts fresh. You can clear all conversation history in Settings → Memory.

4. Microphone

The app asks for microphone access to hear you. Audio is processed on the device. You can chat by typing instead.

5. Features that use the internet

Weather sends the city you choose to the weather provider. News radio downloads headlines from news sources. Voice and language data is downloaded once per voice. Your transcripts are not sent to these services.

6. Children and profiles

Profiles under 18 do not show companion characters. Creating or opening an 18+ profile requires a parental PIN set on the device.

7. Deleting your data

See the data deletion page for step-by-step instructions.
